Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 4 months and counting

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a payroll clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I would gain recent experience. How did you handle benefits?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
