Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 3 months and counting

I got a contract offer for 17 months as a payroll clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
