Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 19 weeks in

I got a contract offer for 13 months as a bookkeeper and I am unsure whether to accept. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. The contract could extend. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
