Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 14 months and counting

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. Any experience at all would help. I would gain recent experience. What would you do?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
