Changing careers at 9 years into a job, is it realistic? - first time posting

After 9 years as a dental hygienist I am thinking about moving into a different field. I worked as a dental hygienist before this. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 3 months.
