Changing careers at 9 years into a job, is it realistic? - 19 weeks in

After 9 years as a hotel front-desk agent I am thinking about moving into a different field. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I have a little time and a small budget for training. Has anyone made a similar move?

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
