Changing careers at 8 years into a job, is it realistic? - first time posting

My layoff made me rethink whether to stay in my field. Thank you in advance. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

I took a small pay cut for a year, and it was worth it for the growth afterwards.
