Changing careers at 7 years into a job, is it realistic? - what worked for you?

I want to move from call-centre agent to something with more stability. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have a little time and a small budget for training. How did you start?

I took a small pay cut for a year, and it was worth it for the growth afterwards.
