Changing careers at 7 years into a job, is it realistic? after 7 years as a security officer

After 7 years as a security officer I am thinking about moving into a different field. Any experience at all would help. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

I took a small pay cut for a year, and it was worth it for the growth afterwards.
