Changing careers at 6 years into a job, is it realistic?, security officer here

My layoff made me rethink whether to stay in my field. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have a little time and a small budget for training. Has anyone made a similar move?

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
