Changing careers at 6 years into a job, is it realistic? - any advice?

My layoff made me rethink whether to stay in my field. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

You likely have more transferable skills than you think. Write down what you did, not what the job title said.
