Changing careers at 6 years into a job, is it realistic?

After 6 years as a payroll clerk I am thinking about moving into a different field. It has been a long 2 weeks. My family is supportive but nervous. Did you take a pay cut?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
