Changing careers at 5 years into a job, is it realistic? - first time posting

After 5 years as a hotel front-desk agent I am thinking about moving into a different field. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 11 months.
