Changing careers at 4 years into a job, is it realistic? - what worked for you?

After 4 years as a project coordinator I am thinking about moving into a different field. I worked as a project coordinator before this. My family is supportive but nervous. How did you start?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
