Changing careers at 4 years into a job, is it realistic? - 13 months and counting

I want to move from insurance claims processor to something with more stability. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. How did you start?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
