Changing careers at 18 years into a job, is it realistic?, hotel front-desk agent here

After 18 years as a hotel front-desk agent I am thinking about moving into a different field. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
