Changing careers at 18 years into a job, is it realistic? - first time posting

After 18 years as an electrician's helper I am thinking about moving into a different field. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
