Changing careers at 18 years into a job, is it realistic? after 18 years as a barista

After 18 years as a barista I am thinking about moving into a different field. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
