Changing careers at 11 years into a job, is it realistic? - 24 weeks in

I want to move from quality inspector to something with more stability. There are 11 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
