Career change after a layoff, where to begin? - what worked for you?

I want to move from administrative assistant to something with more stability. Any experience at all would help. I have a little time and a small budget for training.

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 5 months.

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
