Career change after a layoff, where to begin? (update)

I want to move from janitorial supervisor to something with more stability. I worked as a janitorial supervisor before this. I have a little time and a small budget for training.

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 7 months.
