Career change after a layoff, where to begin? (Salt Lake City)

After 4 years as a call-centre agent I am thinking about moving into a different field. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have a little time and a small budget for training. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
