Career change after a layoff, where to begin? - first time posting

I want to move from recruiter to something with more stability. I am in Toledo, in case local advice matters. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

I took a small pay cut for a year, and it was worth it for the growth afterwards.
