Career change after a layoff, where to begin?

After 3 years as a pharmacy technician I am thinking about moving into a different field. It has been a long 13 weeks. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
