Career change after a layoff, where to begin?

I want to move from store manager to something with more stability. Thank you in advance. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

You likely have more transferable skills than you think. Write down what you did, not what the job title said.
