Career change after a layoff, where to begin?

After 7 years as a bookkeeper I am thinking about moving into a different field. I am in Boston, in case local advice matters. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets.

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 4 months.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
