Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (Wichita)

A local college offers a course that costs $1000. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
