Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - what worked for you?

A local college offers a course that costs $850. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I would like to use funding if possible. Is there free funding?

A hands-on course with a project helped more than a purely online one.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
