Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - what worked for you?

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I worked as a bank teller before this. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
