Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - what worked for you?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a graphic designer. It has been weighing on me all week. I would like to use funding if possible. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
