Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - what worked for you?

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 4 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
