Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (update)

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an operations analyst. It has been a long 5 weeks. I can study evenings.

A hands-on course with a project helped more than a purely online one.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 10 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
