Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (update)

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an accounts payable clerk. Any experience at all would help. I would like to use funding if possible. Is there free funding?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
