Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (Knoxville)

A local college offers a course that costs $350. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I would like to use funding if possible. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
