Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - first time posting

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would like to use funding if possible. Which ones are overrated?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
