Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - first time posting

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a forklift operator. I am in Buffalo, in case local advice matters. I would like to use funding if possible. Which ones are overrated?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
