Are certifications worth it while job hunting?, customer-service rep here

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a customer-service rep. Any experience at all would help. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
