Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (Cleveland)

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an electrician's helper. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I can study evenings. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.
