Are certifications worth it while job hunting? (Boise)

A local college offers a course that costs $1050. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
