Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - any advice?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a customer-service rep. It has been weighing on me all week. I can study evenings. Is there free funding?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
