Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - any advice?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a pharmacy technician. It has been a long 24 weeks. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

A hands-on course with a project helped more than a purely online one.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
