Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - any advice?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a home health aide. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I can study evenings. Which ones are overrated?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
