Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - any advice?

A local college offers a course that costs $350. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.
