Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 9 years as a quality inspector

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a quality inspector. It has been weighing on me all week. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
