Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 8 years as an event coordinator

A local college offers a course that costs $800. It has been a long 21 weeks. I can study evenings. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
