Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 7 years as a production planner

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
