Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 5 years as an accountant

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an accountant. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would like to use funding if possible. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
