Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 17 years as an HR coordinator

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
