Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 16 years as an accounts payable clerk

A local college offers a course that costs $250. I worked as an accounts payable clerk before this. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
