Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 16 years as a customer-service rep

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a customer-service rep. I am in Nashville, in case local advice matters. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
